Summertime swims, water play and other ways to cool down in the heat are enjoyed and looked forward to by your French Brittany. Baths outside from a garden hose are a welcome treat on a hot day.
But now the weather is starting to transition and as we go into the field, the dogs most often come back out with things I don’t want on the bed. Perhaps your French Brittany doesn’t get to sleep on the bed like mine, but regardless of how and where you keep them if all their needs are met and they are happy I don’t judge.
Either way though for their overall health it is better if they are clean.
If you are like me you may have learned a hard lesson that bathtubs are not easy on the back or knees, and if you live with a woman bathing a dog in her tub is generally going to put you in the literal and figurative doghouse.
So here is an easy solution you will thank me for if you didn’t already think of it. It helps with muddy dirty kids too for the record…
I installed a hot and cold frost free spigot on the outside of the house for taking care of messes outside before they get brought inside. Warm water available is better for the health of you and the dog as days get colder and they won’t fight the bath near as much when it is warm water. This keeps the mess outside so they can come inside and cuddle.
I also have to use a raised tub such as a booster bath or similar, because I just can’t bend over anymore.
This is the Transition weather solution. Once it is snowy, windy and authentically cold, I have another solution still But that is another article.
