This video was just removed from TikTok this morning. They decided that it violated their animal abuse policy. Go figure. Private platforms get to set their own rules, but it still feels like censorship when you have to be careful not to ever show certain things in your videos or say certain words and clearly this is just an example of a bird dog doing what a bird dog is meant to do the bird was not harmed and was returned to the pen for further training

This young male, Brittany is working on his retrieves with live quail. He isn’t quite sure whether he should point the bird or pick the bird up because there was no gunshot and the bird is still alive.

highlights from this week training, finally back in the field after double knee replacement and rotator cuff repair. I am not all healed yet, but I was finally able to safely mount a gun (28 gauge) and work with the dogs. They were rusty as was I but we had a lot of fun and now we get to make some pheasant chili. Check out our blog for the recipe!

Here is a short instructional video on introducing young puppies to gunfire. We explain when and how to make the introduction to avoid creating dogs that are fearful of gunfire or gunshy dogs. No birds or other animals are harmed in this video.

Squirrel was a puppy we produced from our French import male and a third generation dog from our breeding program. He was placed as a puppy but due to personal problems his family wasn't able to do any training with him. We brought him back after he was a year old and started his house training, obedience etc. We introduced quail and a motivation retrieve to him last week and this day we introduced the bird launcher and gunfire as well. You can see this is also the first time he ran on stickers instead of green grass and he needs to condition his feet a bit more before the Montana hunts. But he has a clean find and makes a retrieve to hand making us very proud.

He has the right genetics, and even though he hasn't seen quail since he left us as an 8 week old puppy, it all came back to him and came together.
This young Male French Brittany named squirrel has learned so much in a short time.
Sid is already doing amazing at finding birds and his motivational retrieve. here we introduce gunfire and the bird launcher and he does amazing. Look at all the natural ability in this young puppy!
